Reach out to your MP and local ward councillors

East Riding of Yorkshire Council, who currently own the land, have chosen to sell the land instead of moving forward with our plan to create a new park.

We encourage you to contact your MP & local ward councillors for support.

Councillors Michael Lee, Mark Blakeston and Matt Rogers

Dear Charlie Dewhirst MP,
and Cllr Mark Blakeston, Cllr Matt Rogers, Cllr Michael Lee,

I am reaching out to you as a constituent in East Riding of Yorkshire to urge you to support the plan put forward by the local group “Friends of Driffield Sustainable Park” to establish a vibrant biodiverse public park that will enhance the community for the people of Driffield and East Yorkshire.

The land, located to west of Lockwood St, is currently owned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and has remained neglected for decades. While this land is designated for housing in the Local Plan, many agree this site poses significant challenges for development. More importantly, it is the last remaining green space in Driffield town centre, and it is crucial that we preserve it for the enjoyment of future generations. I acknowledge the Council’s interest in selling this land to developers, but I believe that turning it into a park would generate greater value and long-term benefits for our town than a housing estate ever could.

I kindly request that you lend your support to this initiative, ensuring a lasting legacy that will enrich Driffield for years to come.

Yours faithfully,
